Robert Gallucci to Speak on Nuclear Challenge from North Korea and Other Security Threats

Feb. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- BIG ARTS FORUM Lecture Series welcomes political-military affairs expert Robert Gallucci Sunday, February 12, to speak about the nuclear challenge from North Korea and the changing nature of nuclear threat. Gallucci speaks at 7:30 p.m. in BIG ARTS Schein Performance Hall, 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.
          Gallucci is president of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. He served as Dean of Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service for 13 years. He completed 21 years of government service, serving since August 1994 with the U.S. Department of State as Ambassador at Large. From 1998 to 2001, he was appointed as Department of State Special Envoy to deal with the threat posed by the proliferation of ballistic missiles and weapons of mass destruction. He also currently serves on the U.S. State Department’s International Security Advisory Board.
           In its tenth season, The FORUM Lecture Series is nationally recognized for inviting distinguished speakers and experts each year to Sanibel to speak about significant issues of the 21st century. Upcoming speakers include Dr. Geoffrey Kemp, Director of Regional Strategic Programs at the Center for the National Interest (Feb. 26); Dr. Frederick W. Kagan, resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, (March 4); and Desmond Lachman, resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research (March 7).
This season’s FORUM lecture series is sold out. Although BIG ARTS cannot guarantee ticket availability, tickets have typically become available the night of a lecture when a series ticket holder is unable to attend. Available tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis for $35.
