Leason Ellis Launches Account On Sina Weibo, The Leading Microblog Of China

Feb. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Leason Ellis LLP, a patent, trademark and copyright law firm located in White Plains, New York, has launched an account on Sina Weibo, one of the most popular websites in China.  Sina Weibo has been described as a hybrid of Twitter and Facebook, with over 250 million registered users.  The Leason Ellis account is located at http://weibo.com/leasonellis.

Leason Ellis is one of the first IP firms in the U.S. to establish a presence on Sina Weibo.  According to Susie Cheng, the head of the China Practice Group at Leason Ellis, “the Chinese market is growing exponentially and it is vital that U.S. law firms such as ours go to where the action is.”

The use of Sina Weibo is part of a larger strategy by Leason Ellis to capitalize on business with China.  The firm also just launched a Chinese version of its website at www.leasonellis.com.  David Leason, Managing Partner of Leason Ellis, said “we are committed to providing the best possible service to our clients in China and to our clients in the U.S. who do business there, which means translating our communications in Chinese.”

The creation of the Sina Weibo account and the translation of the Leason Ellis website has been managed by Yijun Ge, who joined the firm in 2011.  Ms. Ge will be regularly updating the Sina Weibo account with new posts written in Chinese.  “Between all the content posted on the firm’s Twitter account, and the excellent Trademark Blog authored by Leason Ellis partner Martin Schwimmer, there is a vast amount of material which will be of interest to people in China” Ms. Ge stated.
