Normally thermal paper need multiple coating layers, at least three: The first coating is base coat which make the base paper more flat and easier for next layer coating. The second coating is active coating which the most import coating for thermal paper, the printing image occurred based on active coating. The last coating layer is protecting layer on the top of paper which protect print image life longer, but some buyers only care the cost recently, so some coating facilities only coat the second layer on to basepaper, which makes the printing image life very short, this is also the customers complaint: image fading very soon. So Greatshine Paper advise customers to use good quality paper to build reputations instead of only source lowest cost with bad quality paper.
Another factor is basepaper, based paper is also very important to thermal paper, normally we advise customers to use virgin pulp paper as coating layers on virgin pulp paper can stay longer and not dust when print, market also have some poor quality paper which even coating on newsprint quality paper, there are two much dust and the bleach chemicals will react to the coating chemicals which makes print image poor.
When we use a bad quality paper, we need to consider the printers, poor quality paper normally has too much dust.
