Feb. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Washington, D.C. (February, 6, 2012) KNAECO International, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a marketing contract by the Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority (BIFZA) to increase and promote the island as an exciting trade spot for American companies.

Under the contract, KNAECO International, Inc. will seek to promote Batam as a strategic port and a free trade zone environment for American investments, import/export opportunities, and joint collaborations. It will also highlight the successful experiences of American companies who have established a long-term business presence in Batam.

Batam, located in the Riau Islands Province in the Republic of Indonesia, is 20 kilometers from Singapore. According to BIFZA, the development of the island started as a logistical base for oil and gas exploration for Pertamina, the national Oil Company and at that time the population was only 7,000. It now has a population of one million with more than 1,200 foreign companies from 38 countries investing in the region.

The president of KNAECO, Ms. Kausar Ahmad, made two trips to Indonesia in 2011 to explore business opportunities and to represent American companies seeking joint collaborations.

Ms. Ahmad stressed that it is very important to visit the countries if planning to promote products and services overseas as well as to understand the business culture and make those critical connections.

"As a result of my four month stay and extensive dialogues with key governmental agencies and local business, our company received serious attention in Indonesia which eventually resulted in securing the contract with BIFZA," she said proudly.

Ms. Ahmad also credits the support and guidance that KNAECO received from other companies with international experience and governmental agencies such as the U.S. Export Assistance Center which led to the company taking the exporting plunge in 2011.

“For the past two years, we have been working with Mr. William Fanjoy to identify potential small and mid-size businesses who may benefit from our services,” said John Porter, vice president, KNAECO. Mr. Porter is currently in Batam exploring potential local partners and conducting regular dialogues with BIFZA.

Mr. Fanjoy said that he is delighted that KNAECO International is actively engaged in selling U.S. products/services to Indonesia and KNAECO is working with a number of suppliers in the US to fulfill this order and added, "U.S. products, services and technology are world-class and highly competitive in overseas markets. I commend KNAECO for their efforts in developing partnership between U.S. and Indonesian private sectors." Mr. Fanjoy is the director of the Virginia/DC U.S. Export Assistance Center and is based in Arlington, Virginia.

"The United States government believes that the free flow of goods and services in international trade can provide significant benefits to the world economy, and that Indonesian markets can provide attractive opportunities for U.S. exporters such as KNAECO," said Mr. Fanjoy.

KNAECO will work closely with BIFZA in developing a series of press releases for distribution in the United States. BIFZA is the local administering agency responsible for planning and managing the development of Batam. The agency’s role also includes securing overseas investments for infrastructure development for the island with a focus on highways, electricity, water supply, airport, seaports and public facilities.

As a woman and minority-owned business based in Washington, D.C., KNAECO’s mission is to identify and develop sound economic development projects which benefit diverse communities and improve international understanding and collaboration through ethical and socially responsible business practices. The services which KNAECO is offering to American companies in Indonesia include marketing products and services, facilitating onsite representation and joint collaborations as well as government relations. The company is already representing two American companies for joint collaborative projects in Batam.
