Her multimedia presentation and lecture will be held in BIG ARTS Schein Performance Hall, located at 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. Admission is $20, Child 17 and under free with paying adult.

Drawing from Ocean Conservancy’s two decades of work in the Gulf region and her own connection to the beaches of Florida, Spruill will address restoration in the Gulf of Mexico, ocean acidification, trash in our oceans, and how seashells can inform and inspire us to understand and promote healthier oceans. From the Arctic to the Gulf of Mexico to the halls of Congress, she leads the organization’s efforts to restore the health and resiliency of the ocean through advocating sustainable solutions based on sound science.

Throughout her career, Vikki has helped make ocean issues accessible and engaging to the general public. Spruill spent more than a decade working in public relations, including five years as a senior vice president at Ruder Finn public relations agency.

Spruill is a member of the board of directors for Sky Truth, and of the boards of directors for Tides Network and Tides Center, and she sits on the Aldo Leopold Leadership Program Advisory Committee. She currently chairs the principals group of the Communications Partnership for Science and the Sea (COMPASS). She serves on the Advisory Committee for the Ocean Hall of the Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum and the Conservation Committee of the SeaChange Investment Fund. She is also a member of the Pew Fellows Advisory Committee, the Ad Council Advisory Committee and represents Ocean Conservancy’s membership in the Clinton Global Initiative.
