SHAKE FAMILY RAISES $214,657 FOR SALVATION ARMY OF THE MONTEREY PENINSULA
MONTEREY, CALIF. – The Shake family is pleased to announce that the fourth annual Sabu’s Safari raised $160,672 for the Salvation Army, Monterey Peninsula Corps at the sold out event held at the Portola Hotel & Spa on October 8, 2011. The annual Sabu Shake Memorial Christmas fundraiser that ran from December 5th throughout the holiday season brought in an additional $53,985.
“We are very happy that the community comes together each year to support the Salvation Army, which continues to make a difference in the lives of those in need in our region,” said Sabu Shake, Jr.
This year was an overwhelming success in receiving donations from customers, friends and business associates. In fact, some customers and friends attended both Sabu’s Safari in October and also donated to the Christmas drive.
Sabu Shake Sr., a well-known restaurateur and philanthropist, passed away in 1998. The Shake family honors his memory and legacy of giving with these very special charitable celebrations in partnership with the Salvation Army, Monterey Peninsula Corps. Since Shake Sr.’s passing, $923,821 has been raised for the Salvation Army, Monterey Peninsula Corps.
