crusher is a equipment designed to reduce large rocks into small rocks. crusher can be used to reduced the size or change the form of materials. the common types of crusher are jaw crusher, cone crusher(gyratory crusher), impact crusher and so on. here we will make a difference between jaw crusher and gyratory crusher.

1.The crushing of gyratory crusher is continuously, so gyratory crusher features high productivity, high reduction ratio, running stable, low consumption, more excellent finished product shape, etc. The disadvantage is that gyratory crusher features high height, complex structure, inconvenient to maintain and large infrastructure investment and repairing cost.

Gyratory Crusher is widely used in metallurgy, building material, mining , chemical industry, etc. It is mainly applicable to coarse crush various ores and rocks, especially in large-scale concentrator, which is a typical coarse crushing equipment. However, some large-scale concentrator is also use coarse jaw crusher as coarse crushing equipment.

2.The crushing of jaw crusher is intermittent, so jaw crusher productivity is relatively low; impact vibration so to relatively higher consumption and the finished product shape is not more uniform. The advantage is that jaw crusher features smaller height, simple structure, repeatable performance and easy to maintain.

3.No matter what kind of crusher, first, it should take consider the feeding size, discharge opening range and the processing capacity to choose suitable crushing equipment, according to actual requirement and the product specifications.

4.Owing to relative higher processing capacity, large-scale concentrator is generally use gyratory crusher as the primary coarse crushing equipment. Besides, gyratory crusher has relative high reduction ratio, which is up to 6-9.5, individual cases to 13.5. However, small-scale concentrator and quarry is generally use jaw crusher as primary crusher. If both jaw crusher and gyratory crusher can meet the requirement of the feeding size, discharge opening range and processing capacity, by virtue of the process used in crushing crusher, investment, infrastructure, and many other measures to determine to choose which crushing machine is more suitable.

5.The shape of finished product is important to crusher operation, selection and the design of crushing process. The factors that affect finished product shape are: the nature of material, the compound content of fine particles, the type of crushing machine, operation, etc.
