Feb. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- On the heels of what The Pub Theater called “a very successful debut,” spanning the last two weekends in January, “Bye Bye Liver: The Key West Drinking Play” (BBL) has extended its run at the Hog’s Breath Upstairs with 9 shows announced for the month of February. Starting this weekend, BBL will run Fridays at 7:30, Saturdays at 7:30 and 10pm, with shows on sale now for Feb 3, 4, 17, 18, 24 and 25.  Advance purchase is recommended via the Pub Theater box office at (800) 650-6449, or online at www.byebyeliver.com/keywest.

Drawing from a playbook of sketches and drinking games developed over the last 6 years in 8 North American cities, BBL content has been customized to reflect the unique quirks of Key West bar culture. In its opening weekends, BBL mounted 5 tightly-scripted sketches and 4 of its trademark, participatory games at each show. Audiences got a glimpse of what can happen when you give birthday shots to the girl who should never have hard liquor in “Shot Girl,” a tutorial on how to help mend a friend’s broken heart with booze in “The Rules”, and the profound impact a good pair of “Beer Goggles” can have on one’s night on the town. In between sketches, audiences competed against the cast and one another for bragging rights, door prizes and the opportunity to influence the direction of the show that followed during the show’s more interactive segments.

Starting this weekend, BBL welcomes ingénue Michele Meck and character-actor Monty Stoakes to an ensemble already boasting some of the island’s best comedic talent in Wayne Jarvela, Li Jones, Chad Newman, “DJ” Casey Scott, Katie “Cannonball” Walker and Will “Happy Hour” Wilson. Born of a rehearsal process in which actors are encouraged take collective ownership of the whole show more than they are individual roles, the cross-training and regular substitutions intrinsic to BBL’s development help it to deliver on a promise to always keep the show fresh and  make it an entertainment feature you can see time and again.

Shows range from about seventy-five to ninety minutes and patrons are encouraged to arrive at least thirty-minutes prior to curtain to guarantee seating. After each performance, the performers and crew host a cast party where audience members can mingle and raise a glass with their favorite players.
