Pacer’s Clark Kellogg To Serve As Keynote Speaker For The Business Of Sports Summit

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 1, 2012 - Los Angeles, CA (February 1, 2012) – ESP Education & Leadership Institute, Greg Jennings of the Green Bay Packers and Reshard Langford of the Kansas City Chief will present the Business of Sports Summit on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Gathertorium on the campus of Martin University.  Clark Kellogg, a former first-round draft pick of the Pacers (1982, eighth selection overall) will deliver the keynote address at the Summit.  A runner-up for Rookie-of-the-Year honors, as well as a unanimous selection to the 1982 NBA All-Rookie Team, Clark spent 5 seasons with the Pacers’, Kellogg is one of 5 NBA players in NBA history to average double figures in scoring and rebounding as a rookie. Clark, who was recently named Vice President of Player Relations for the Pacers, is in his 19th season as a television analyst. Kellogg, who has done television analyst work for Cleveland State University, the Big East Television Network and ESPN, currently serves as the No. 1 analyst for CBS’ coverage of college basketball and studio analyst during the network’s coverage of “March Madness.
The Business of Sports Summit is targeted to high school students with an interest in sports. The goal of this Summit is to use sports as a vehicle to motivate students towards education (which can also be used to pursue non-sports related careers) by exposing them to the many different non-playing career opportunities in professional sports.  In partnership with local Martin University management team, the Summit will include a full day of panel discussions for approximately 300 high school students with 30 renowned sports and business professionals, including a roundtable discussion between the students and the mentors.  In addition, the Summit will include a special session for kids and young adults that will be focused on teaching children about entrepreneurship. The session will be hosted by Endura Govan, Executive Director of International Business Kids, a non-profit organization started by Govan’s son, Alexander, who had a dream at the tender age of four to start his own business. Three years later, he started his first nonprofit, “B.A.D. (Bold, Ambitious, and Determined) Kids,” to teach other children how to start and run their own businesses.
The Business of Sport Summit is a part of the Institute’s Taste of the Game 2012, a series of charitable, entertaining and engaging events in conjunction with the greatest weekend in all of sports. Proceeds from the events will benefit Center for Leadership Development, National D.R.E.A.M. Alive Inc, Greg Jennings Foundation and ESP Education and Leadership Development, 501(c) (3) organizations that support youth empowerment education and mentorship.  Tarik Glenn, former NFL offensive tackle for the Indianapolis Colts and founder of D.R.E.A.M. Alive Inc., and Lacy M.
