Vlado Footwear Presents Showdown LA III in Partnership with 2012 Keep On Dancing (KOD) U.S. Prelims

Feb. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- A day of dance battles, celebrity guests, surprise performances, and non-stop entertainment for the entire family, the Jerk Movement will once again make its mark in Southern California as VLADO Footwear presents 'Showdown LA III" at The Shrine Expo Center on Saturday, March 10, 2012.  

Showdown LA III is taking the next step to raise more awareness to the kids and community that the movement of dance is a powerful force growing everyday all over the world.  This year's event is partnered with Keep on Dancing (KOD), the legendary, biggest street dance event held each year in Beijing, China.  Showdown LA III will serve as the first ever U.S.A prelims for Hip-Hop, BBoy, Popping, and Locking categories.  The winner from each category will represent the USA in the Keep on Dancing (KOD) finals in Beijing.  One jerkin crew will also receive the rare honor of representing the NJA (National Jerkin Association) to showcase to the world what the jerk movement is. 

In it's third year running, Showdown LA was created for the kids in the Jerkin community.  "With Showdown LA, we wanted to provide a safe haven and let kids know that they are able to use their skills and passion for dance in a positive way", says Jill Kim, founder and CEO of Vlado Footwear.  "As we support the art of dance, we realize that dancers and choreographers don't ever get the recognition and attention they deserve especially in the U.S. where many dance styles originate from.  Our goal with partnering with Keep on Dancing on this year's Showdown LA is to raise interest and awareness and help bring these various dance movements back to the U.S.A.  The first two Showdown LA events were a huge success with over 7,500 attendees combined from all over the U.S.A", says Kim.  "It's continued growth and success are the reasons we decided to make it an annual event."
