Committee Forms, Seeks Nominations for 2012 Man & Woman of the Year Candidates

Joe Sanfillipo heads up committee for 2012 Greater Cincinnati Man & Woman of the Year Campaign, urges local professionals to get involved

Feb. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- The 2012 Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Man & Woman of the Year committee members are scouring the city, their contact lists and search for the city’s best and brightest to compete for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2012 Man & Woman fo the Year.

Committee Chair, Joe Sanfillipo, COO of USA Collision Centers and 2006 Man of the Year candidate, urges local professionals to consider running, “I cannot tell you how rewarding it is to be involved with LSL, especially through a campaign like this one.  The professional exposure is amazing, and the knowledge that you are raising thousands of dollars to help eradicate blood cancers – what more could you ask for!”  Joe is joined by committee members, Justin Dobbs, Alex Fischer, Roy Flores, Vince Hopkins, Eric Langevin, Amanda Newsom, Jeff Peppet, Denise Reier, Steve Schulte, Dan Vogelpohl and Donna Zaring.
Man & Woman of the Year candidates will compete for the title of Man & Woman of the Year throughout a ten-week fundraising campaign, planning individual events, sending letters and emails, and soliciting donations and sponsorships from local companies.  The top local fundraisers then compete for the national title of Man & Woman of the Year, an honor surrounded with a great deal of fanfare, including a full-page ad in USA Today.  Locally, candidates are featured in both 1/3 page and a full page ad donated by our Media Sponsor, Cincinnati Magazine and together on a Norton Outdoor billboard on I-75.  The winners will be featured on second billboard on I-71 and listed in the national ad in USA Today.

“Participation in Man & Woman of the Year is a great way for candidates to gain personal and professional exposure in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky community,” said Michelle Steed, Executive Director of the Tri-State Chapter.  “In return, they are providing a valuable service to LLS by raising funds to help fight cancer.”  Winners and runners up will also receive a variety of donated prizes.

The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Man & Woman competition will kick off on Friday, March 30, 2012 at a celebration hosted by Western Hills Country Club. During the campaign, candidates fundraise on behalf of the campaign’s Honored Heroes,  Young Man and Young Lady of the Year, Joel Brown and Liz Lothrop, local blood cancer survivors and self-proclaimed “cancer buddies”, who are a source of inspiration and motivation to the candidates in their efforts.  The local male and female candidates who raise the most funds will be crowned 2012 Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Man & Woman of the Year at the Grand Finale Celebration on Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza. The Grand Finale is open to the public and includes hors d’ oeuvres, cocktails, music and a silent and live auction. Tickets are $50 per person.
