The new FMwand 10 mm Resecting Loop was designed specifically to enable surgeons to efficiently remove tissue (tumors, for example) with less bleeding and minimized damage to surrounding healthy tissue. The new 10 mm Resecting Loop simultaneously cuts and coagulates without passing electrical current into the patient. Depending on the orientation, the surgeon can use the tool as both a dissecting blade or as a resecting loop.
"Surgeons have expressed their excitement about the potential for this resecting tool in many different surgical applications,"
Domain Surgical's FMwand product line is based upon patent-pending thermal surgical technology, whereby a surgical implement can be rapidly heated to consistently deliver pure thermal energy to cut and coagulate soft tissue. When the heated implement contacts tissue, it imparts a thermal effect on the surface of the tissue that has a very low depth of penetration compared to most other surgical energy modalities. This results in superior cutting and coagulation, with little risk of unintentional injury to adjacent or deep tissue.
