Jan. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- Spring Fair (NEC Birmingham) will see Nelson & Forbes Sculpture Company unveil the latest addition to their limited edition bronze sculpture collection in Hall 4, Stand C107.

Nelson & Forbes’ (http://www.nelsonandforbes.co.uk/) new Moon Gazing Hare, designed exclusively for the company by renowned sculptor Sue Maclaurin, shows a hare deep in thought and gazing towards the sky in a celebrated pose famously filled with ancient myth and belief. Nelson & Forbes Founder Deborah Foster says, “Ever since our first Hare sculptures, we have been asked by collectors for a Moon Gazing Hare to complete their collection. We’re incredibly pleased to be able to offer what has, until now, been a missing piece for so many of our customers”.

Wildlife has always played a central role the life of sculptor Sue Maclaurin (http://www.nelsonandforbes.co.uk/sue-maclaurin-c-102.html), from roaming the bush on horseback in Northern Rhodesia to a lifelong love of the British countryside. Sue’s passion and knowledge of the animals she sculpts is evident in the character they exude. The Moon Gazing Hare is one of ten Hare sculptures by Sue in Nelson & Forbes’ current collection, each of which perfectly captures the essence of this beautiful British creature.

Every piece made by Nelson & Forbes is created in bronze using the ancient art of lost wax casting (http://www.nelsonandforbes.co.uk/bronze.php), which can be traced back over 6000 years and remains largely unchanged from its original form. It is the same process that was used to create famous sculptures across the globe including the Trafalgar Square Lions and the doors of the Bank of England. This process allows every intricate detail of a sculptor’s original but often fragile work to be perfectly recreated in a beautiful material and ensures that their sculpture will last a lifetime.

The Moon Gazing Hare, which comes in a limited edition of 250 pieces, is beautifully packaged in a box handmade in the Midlands and with a certificate of authenticity that is hand printed from a copper engraving. This sumptuous presentation box and certificate make Nelson and Forbes’ pieces the perfect gift or collector’s item.

The Moon Gazing Hare has a recommended retail price of £175.00.  Galleries are invited to apply as stockists of this striking piece which can be viewed and ordered for the first time at the Spring Fair 2012 (Hall 4, Stand C107).  It is one of 38 exclusive pieces in the Nelson & Forbes 2012 collection, created by artists Jonathan Sanders and Sue Maclaurin.  For trade enquiries please contact Nelson & Forbes on 01442 256290.
