Students who participated in the Maple Leaf Math Challenge went through a selection process and the five that were selected to represent Canada are absolutely fabulous! This year’s World Education Games are going to be the best yet as 3P Learning adds Science to the Games!
About the World Education Games:
World Maths Day began in 2007 and is now held every single year in the first week of March. This began the launch of the World Education Games.
In 2010, a new game design was launched, with 5 different levels for each of the age categories. Also, for the first time, a 500 game cap was placed on individual's point scoring potential as too many students around the world were losing sleep over World Maths Day (not to mention teachers!).
Despite the attempt and keeping the numbers limited, 2,403,526 students participated from 236 countries and nations, correctly answering 479,732,613 questions. Due to the amazing work of students around the world, a new Guinness World Record was also set!
Back at the beginning, our very first competition saw 286,000 students from 98 countries taking part – the event has gotten bigger and bigger and bigger each year, with over 2 million students taking part in 2010. That’s amazing! In 2012, we want to be even bigger – and in 2012, teachers, parents, governments and people from the media are invited to join in once again.
The World Education Games are all about inclusiveness – we think it is really important for children of all abilities and backgrounds to be able to compete against other children of similar ages and abilities from all around the globe. This year, we’ll be working together with UNICEF to Unite the World in Numbers giving and raising money to help give children all over the world the education they deserve.
