yes well it wasnt so long ago, with the progigy, "charley", yellow vests and dusty old roads, wasnt it cool. The police hated it but it happened, but whats there now ? let me give a old ravers view of right now...

its 2012 and hardcore or "HTID - Hardcore till I die" is still going strong, but its very very different....

First off a acknowlegement, RIP Mc Junior who died a month ago, he was the voice of classics like "pretty green eyes" **

sorry, back to the facts.....

Hardcore isnt like 20 years ago, you know the adverts on tv for Clubland Albums with speeded up old tunes with half or fully naked wimmin, yes thats the one. At any weekend you can see a who list of new names running the scene. Now lets take a look at some of the list as some arent so bad.... now the older ravers will still spot Shane Vibes, DJ Dougal who are both getting pretty ripe now (sorry shane!) but they pull the crowd but they are lower on the billing, even Charley Fantazia is still sticking to his roots putting on old school gigs. Other names include DJ Gammer, MC Whizzkid, MC Storm, Hixxy, Darren styles. Now firstly nearly all the above play CDs or MP3s, so lets not even go down that road as we know what that means. But times change and its about the crowd and to be fair some do a great job of producing some amazing stuff, DJ Gammers sets are legendary, he really puts in the effort for his money, and everyone knows DJ Dougal has been a massive help. MCing is still there, Whizzkid is the most popular right now but Storm has done well as hes been at it for a few years.

The gigs still go on but in a much more organised way, estacy doesnt seem to be such a important part or it isnt pushed into the faces of the public like it was back in the day. The music to the untrainned ear can sound like "chipmonks", its quick! but that gives it the energy, mixing tracks is no longer a 3 minute rest with 30 seconds mix, DJ Gammer can play just seconds and run 3 or 4 decks ready, so cuts are quick and remixing is on the fly. if you happen to want any dance records check out http://www.vinylsearcher.com

Out in europe groups like "Scooter" are still very popular and pull in big crowds, the euro sound borders techno and is very very hard unlike the UK. Techno lives on in the UK but it is not strong.

Commercially albums like ClubLand has done well and even sporned a tour, seeing the likes of Darren styles at the NEC in birmingham.

PRESS RELEASE:

"ULTRABEAT have enjoyed massive commercial success since their 2003 smash hit **Pretty Green Eyes entered the UK charts.

They have gone on to release a number of club hits including Feelin Fine and their 2007 debut album was a Top 10 hit.

The band enjoyed massive success throughout the UK and Ibiza in 2008 with their hit single Discolights and their new artist album is due for release within weeks.

And Micky Modelle is Belfast’s very own CLUBLAND hero following the huge success of his track Dancing In The Dark, which features Belgian vocalist Jessy."

Now I am not sure who attends the events,I suppose its safe for a 16 year old clubber who wants to wear day glo and go to a RAVE. The fact that its not a rave isnt really a issue, its about a load of people having a cool time to music they love.

All I hope is that at some time they listen back to some dreamscape sets, Youtube has a great selection although with there 15 min time limit it leaves you wanting more. (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dreamscape&oq...)

On a few instances we have seen the rave culture try to emerge again with some parties outdours, but now clubs are huge and DJs want paying, so its a safer bet.

SO the next time someone says do you like hardcore remember, it was very different way back when, but isnt everything, we dont need yellow smiley faces all over again, people popping Doves....that was then, this is now, people can enjoy themselves in a different way. The tape backs of Eclipse and the Edge hopefully will hang on...next time you are bored google "dj vibes dreamscape 14" or "Micky Finn dreamscape 20". its cool honest.....
