Jan. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Kitchen areas are busy rooms within the home but not all kitchen have massive space and many whilst decent sizes are still considered small by home owners. The kitchen is a room we spend a lot of time in and as well as providing a function, they are rooms we like to make design statements in and rooms where we can create real design and style. Many home owners have the option to extend their kitchen areas whilst for others this is simply not an option. If your kitchen area is smaller than you would like, there are things that can be done to make it appear larger. The choices you make for kitchen wall tiles and kitchen floor tiles will play an enormous role in how the kitchen area is perceived and the colours you choose play an enormous role.

Although there are many kitchen wall tile choices, it is always best to opt for light and airy wall tile colours in a room where space is limited. Always remember that when space is limited so too is natural light and any darker colours used may absorb that light and make the room appear smaller.

The units and furniture in the kitchen area matter a great deal and if you haven’t already chosen these try and opt for light coloured units and furniture such as crème or white. Once this decision has been made, home owners can turn their attentions to the kitchen wall tile colours that will compliment the units and furniture. The kitchen worktop units are also great areas for design and the colour and material you choose will make a huge difference. Darker coloured worktops will work very well with lighter units and home owners can opt for natural stone or tiles for the kitchen countertops. This particular area leaves room for using dark colours such as black or darker browns which again will contrast with the units.

The next aspect to consider is the kitchen wall tiles and this is where home owners can have some real fun and inject some colour into the kitchen. The coloured wall tiles you choose will largely depend on your personal preferences but home owners can also opt for two toned wall tiles colours where they have a row of bight coloured wall tiles close to the kitchen countertop edge and then use a neutral lighter shade for the rest of the wall tile area. This is great for breaking up the wall tile design as well as adding colour vibrancy. Great colours to use in this particular area are red wall tiles and gold wall tiles, both adding colour and real tile style.

The last aspect to consider if you haven’t already done so is the kitchen floor tiles. Again home owners can opt from a wide range of kitchen floor tile designs but if the kitchen is a particular small area it may be wise to keep the floor tiles plain and use a neutral lighter colour than the kitchen furniture. Good kitchen floor tile colours to use are greys, whites, crèmes and off whites. Kitchen floor tile materials that work well in kitchen areas are ceramic floor tiles, porcelain floor tiles and many others.
