Jan. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Phoenix, Arizona, USA - January 28, 2012 – For people with rare forms of cancer and other diseases, time is of the essence.  When standard healthcare solutions aren’t enough, patients with uncommon cancers are often forced to seek treatment at clinical trials as last-chance alternatives.  Unfortunately, these clinical trials are extremely difficult to find.  Until now.  A new free website, Rachels Registry (www.rachelsregistry.com) is a one-stop clearinghouse of available clinical trials, presenting patients with comprehensive access to information and one-click direct access to current clinical trials.

Prior to the unveiling of Rachels Registry (www.rachelsregistry.com), patients and their families were forced to scour the internet in search of sometimes obscure and hard to find clinical trials.  The search can take many weeks to find a relevant clinical trial.  With any serious ailments, delay in treatment equates to precious time lost. Now, the hours lost to searching for a clinical trial are eliminated.

Rachels Registry (www.rachelsregistry.com) provides two specific elements to patients.  First, it offers a wealth of educational information about clinical trials.  And second, the website presents an authoritative list of more than 50 leading cancer research facilities and their clinical trials, with direct links to apply to such facilities as Sloan Kettering, Mayo Clinic, National Cancer Institute and M.D. Anderson.

Rachels Registry was created by Scott Sandler in tribute to his daughter Rachel, who passed away at the age of 22 in July 2011 after battling a peripheral malignant nerve sheath tumor.  “While my daughter was being treated with chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, I was searching for a clinical trial to treat her rare cancer,” says Sandler. “I blindly scoured the internet, but didn’t know where to look.  It took a long time to find a clinical trial that might have helped her, but by then it was too late. Now, with Rachels Registry, we’ve given other families a leg up on clinical trial searches, saving them time and hopefully saving lives.”

Rachels Registry is a completely free service that is not for profit.  Nor is it affiliated with any clinical trial facility or pharmaceutical company.
