The “Great Hall” has a rich history as a venue where community members gathered to listen to performers of the day. In its heyday the stage saw a number of venues, including a performance by the Russian Ballet, USO drives, and visits from Senators Saltonstall and Kennedy, among others. Michael Niden, President of the Great Hall Performance Foundation, said, “With the recent Town Hall renovations, the Great Hall has been restored to its former glory and is now the home venue of the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series.” The series has been organized by the Great Hall Performance Foundation, Inc., and Needham Bank is the major underwriter for the series.
Demands for office space and lack of other affordable options resulted in the conversion of The Great Hall to office space roughly 60 years ago. Recent Town Hall renovations were the impetus for the formation of the Great Hall Performance Foundation, Inc. Working with NeedArts and with the endorsement of the Needham Cultural Council, the not-for-profit Foundation was formed to bring marquis music events four times a year to the newly renovated Town Hall.

The Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series will begin on March 24th with “Broadway, CurtainUp!” a performance featuring selections from great Broadway production. The series will continue on May 12th with a performance by the Tiger Okoshi Quintet; on September 22. There will be a champagne celebration to commemorate the launch of the series.
The goal of the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series is to promote the historical preservation of a cherished Needham landmark, while driving economic growth in Needham Center and elevating the stature and awareness of the Needham High School Music Program. Students are involved in all facets of concert series planning, production and performance;
