OTTER LLC makes popular Text and Drive solution even more accessible to drivers

"Putting the power in the hands of the end user is the key changing habits and creating sustainably safer drivers on the highway today,” said Erik Wood, Founder and CEO of OTTER LLC.

PRLog - Jan. 26, 2012 - SEATTLE -- SEATTLE, WA (January 27, 2012) – OTTER LLC today announced that its popular texting management app is now only $3.99 for a one time download.   “Demonstrating how affordable a Text and Drive solution can be is one of our biggest goals.  Putting the power in the hands of the end user is the key changing habits and creating sustainably safer drivers on the highway today,” said Erik Wood, Founder and CEO of OTTER LLC.   The OTTER (One Touch Text Response) app had been selling for $4.99 and has been available since early 2010.  It is currently accessible on Android, Blackberry and Symbian (Nokia) smartphones.

“Charging smartphone users lots of money to lock down their property and then throwing in recurring fees is a formula that ultimately annoys customers and gets them to debate civil liberties instead of public safety”, said OTTER Co-Founder, Jon Lam. “We have noticed an increase in employees buying second smartphones when their company’s cell phone is locked down.  This individual is still texting while driving and so we have missed our opportunity to create a sustainably safer driver”, adds Jon Lam.

OTTER’s patent pending concept, first developed in late 2009, made it the first app of its kind that integrates a texting auto reply and GPS functionality to produce a tool that allows users to manage their texts while they are at home, in the office or, most importantly, on the highway. OTTER includes a GPS based Parental Control feature for the highest risk drivers - teens.  Parents can enter a session specific pass code on teen’s phones to make sure that GPS Mode is on when the user is driving.  OTTER presents itself as a texting management system for any situation.  Its easy to schedule "texting blackout periods" so you can focus on the task at hand, like an important meeting or a movie, without feeling disconnected from your personal network. In short, OTTER is offered as a tool to the texting culture instead of an invasive texting "lock down" system.

OTTER LLC is a Seattle-based software company dedicated to making cell phone usage safer and more efficient.   This company revolves around personal responsibility and the belief that if you empower an individual with a simple but sophisticated tool like OTTER, this individual can manage their texts on their terms whether that is at home, in the office or on our highways.
