Projected to grow by 23.3% in 2012, US advertisers will spend close to $4 billion this year to market their businesses online, and that number is only expected to rise in the coming years, reaching a projected $62 billion by 2016. In a study recently completed by eMarketer, the amount of money spent on online advertising is slated to rise significantly, while the amount spend on newspaper and magazine ads will continue to drop slightly.
Even more, internet advertising is also projected to catch up to television advertising, closing the gap from $27.3 billion in 2011 to only $10 billion by 2016, totaling an aggressive $62 billion spent by online advertisers in the United States alone. Though television ads will still see a gradual increase in advertising dollars spent, the internet, with its ever-changing trends, will even surpass television advertising before much longer.
