Central Florida Author Starts Writing Third Book for Son and Hospital

Writing started as a pastime for one Central Florida woman and quickly transformed into an escape of the familiar sounds of a hospital’s noises. Over a year later, her writing continues as a mission to help a local hospital and her son’s future.

Winter Haven resident and author Teresa Meeks third book is in the editing stage and should be available soon. It's centered around a fanatical homeowners association member and the torment of residents in one community. Meeks recently published her second novel “Tortured Journey,” a 180-page non-fiction mystery. Meeks, an Executive Assistant at a local engineering firm, began writing in November 2009.  Before her first book, “Nothing is Always Something,” was published her son, Michael Kramer, was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia.  Meeks writes for more than pleasure these days – she writes to support the local Hospital treating her son and his academic future.

Meeks says that her son “received excellent and prompt care a children's hospital in St. Petersburg and was a second home” for her, Michael, and Meeks’ husband Narvin Meeks for more than a year.  “With more than 60 nights and 18 different inpatient stays, Michael made friends with the doctors and nurses that treated him.  His treatment lasted longer than most due to a gene abnormality but Michael continued to trudge on with a smile,” Meeks said.  Michael recently graduated from high school and has aspired to become a marine biologist.

Meeks writes not for personal or monetary gain.  She donates a portion of the proceeds to the Hospital because she says “they saved my son’s life…I want them to benefit.”  The remaining proceeds will go to secure her son’s dream of becoming a marine biologist.

One reviewer wrote of Meeks' books, "The book 'Nothing is Always Something' was very successful at taking everyday people and putting them into extraordinary situations." Both published books received reviews from readers as being exciting and real page turners.

Meeks books can be purchased in paperback at Amazon or can be downloaded to a Kindle or other e-book formats such as Barnes & Noble, Sony, iTunes.
