Lantic Entertainment Systems drives pace of app development

Just four months after releasing its all-new WAC (Wi-Fi Audio Centre) app for superyacht entertainment systems in September 2011, Lantic has released an updated version in response to changes in customer use.

Jan. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Lantic embraces new environment with update of new WAC app in response to customer feedback

The app revolution of the past few years has opened up significant opportunities for companies like Lantic Entertainment Systems and its customers; in particular allowing previously unheard of levels of sophistication when it comes to the remote operation of entertainment systems from almost any location onboard even the largest yachts.  But while the sheer number of new apps that gets added everyday continues to grab the headlines, a secondary key feature that is driving app development is the need to keep pace with the demands of consumers through, in some cases, a process of near continuous development.

Lantic released its all-new WAC (Wi-Fi Audio Centre) app in September 2011.  This piece of software allowed the owner of any Apple smart device to control (with the necessary passwords) the audio functions of their onboard Lantic Entertainment System from the comfort of their deck chair, sun lounger or indeed at any location that is equipped for audio rather than visual entertainment.  This has proved a great asset for both crew and guests as the latter arrive with control devices with which they are already perfectly familiar, so no more lengthy explanations and demonstrations.

But now just four months later Lantic has decided to release an updated version in response to customer feedback.  Many of the changes are relatively small, but in the world of mobile apps any amendment that increases convenience either through design or reducing the number of keystrokes needed to complete a command is viewed as a significant advance.

In the case of the ‘Lantic WAC’ app the changes include an update in design to match that of the pre-existing remote control WEB application.  Customers requests also included having the zone in which the device is located continuously displayed, ditto a ‘now playing’ button which is a widely used feature on other audio apps.

The handling of playback and current playlists has also been simplified, and the ‘now playing’ page has been expanded to three pages available by swiping, and so offers a greater range of information.

“This is the technological environment in which we now operate,” said Lantic Marketing & Sales Manager Peter Bouman.  “The owners of ultra high-end entertainment systems like those made by Lantic expect a bespoke service with minimal waiting time, and the app system allows us to almost continuously adjust our remote control software to reflect broad changes in expectations that people have of the capabilities of their handheld devices.  We have always aimed to be highly responsive to our customers’ needs, and a process of continuous development is an important part of that.”

Notes to editors:  Lantic Entertainment Systems is the world leader in the development and assembly of integrated audio-visual entertainment systems for superyachts and is based in Denmark. Lantic systems can be found on board many of the world’s largest and most prestigious yachts.
