This is the first time that an Indian entertainment conglomerate has secured so may nominations. The last nomination was for A R Rahman for best original score in 2010.
The 84th annual Academy Award nominations were announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today.
The prestigious Oscars will be presented on February 26 in Los Angeles.
Ambani's Reliance Dreamworks also garnered nominations in the best actress and the best supporting actress categories for 'The Help' as well as in the best Art Direction, Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing and Original Score categories for 'War Horse'.
Reliance Entertainment and Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks struck a mega deal in 2008 to make Hollywood films. Reliance Entertainment also owns 251 movie halls in America.
Ambani entered the entertainment business in 2006 and his movie production business in India has seen many top box office grossing hits including 3 Idiots, Rock On and Singham.
