Jan. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Gateway – The Complete School (GTCS) Sholinganallur, affiliated to University of Cambridge International Examination, today proudly showcased their splendid “International Schools Award Exhibition”.
All the pupils of Primary, Middle and High School participated in this exciting learning journey, which involved multi-disciplinary projects done over a period of several months this academic year. These projects involved collaborative efforts with schools in other countries like Denmark and Singapore, visits, lectures, presentations, and interaction with citizens of other countries including South Africa, USA, Australia, and South Korea, debates, group discussions, quizzes, field trips, experiments, preparation of posters and brochures, and much, much more!
A diverse range of topics were explored by students at the different levels of the school, including - Housing, Clothing, Food and Festivals of China; Natural disasters in Japan and India; Architecture of Europe and India from the 14th to 17th Century; Freedom fighters in USA, South Africa and India; Native tribes of USA, Australia and India; South Korean industries; Endangered Species; and Climate change in India as compared to European countries like Denmark.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Rengaraj, Head – FMG, Southern Division, WIPRO. The Principal, Dr. Gayathri Deepak, welcomed the guests and expressed her appreciation for the remarkable efforts put in by all the staff and students, who enthusiastically undertook this exciting learning journey.
Commenting on this occasion, Dr.Gayathri Deepak added “There is a huge difference in thinking level of students when compared to the last decade. Previously, students used to do projects limited to Indian or Asian content and thought, whereas, in today’s world with more communication options, students are exploring various projects of much wider scope and global perspectives. We, at Gateway Schools, sharpen their skills and provide opportunities to fulfill their dreams.” So, this school year, learning at GTCS incorporated various projects spanning multiple aspects of different countries and continents, as it applied for the International School Award, which is an accreditation scheme for curriculum – based international work in schools. The school’s International Policy underpins the international culture of this unique school, and this was further strengthened by these projects across all levels of the school.
All the parents and visitors lauded the work done by the students, who had explored each topic from different angles, and presented their research, findings and outcomes with aplomb!
