Jan. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- The Arbor Pointe II and III Ribbon Cutting and Groundbreaking Celebration is Thursday, January 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at 1312 Gazebo Way. Mayor Teresa Tomlinson and representatives from Columbia Residential, The Housing Authority of Columbus, The State of Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation, and Wells Fargo will be making remarks. Refreshments and a tour of the homes will follow the ceremony.

Arbor Pointe is a redevelopment of the former Baker Village public housing site, with three phases of family and senior housing in a privately managed community. Phase I, with 148 units, was completed in September 2009. Phase II, which was completed in November 2010, is now 95% occupied.

Each phase has 32 one-bedroom units, 88 two-bedroom units and 28 three-bedroom units. About 80% of the units are under some kind of set-aside keeping them affordable for households at or below 60% of area median income. Amenities include a clubhouse with kitchen, fitness center, computer center and Internet café, resort-style pool, playground area and on-site property management and maintenance.

The third phase, Arbor Pointe Senior, is for senior independent living, and will consist of 120 one-bedroom units with a bungalow style design with the appearance of individual homes. The goal is to create an active outdoor space for seniors with landscaped walking trails.

The development has been planned and executed by The Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia (HACG) and Columbia Residential, LLC (CR) and will incorporate the latest technology for security, storm water management and energy conservation to include Energy Star program compliance as well as meeting the EarthCraft energy program requirements.
