Jan. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- A report delivered at the National Retail Federation’s annual conference suggests that consumer migration to online purchases continued in the 4th quarter and predicted that web retail will comprise 20% of holiday sales in 2012.  Deep discounts, deals and free shipping will also prevail as a cost of doing business.  How do boutique retailers buck that trend?  Sheri Falk, owner of BASIQUES in Uptown Houston, continues to focus on what she believes is important for her female clientele.  A custom retail experience.  Falk stressed, “We don’t believe in following the masses, because when it comes to women, customer service and specialized fittings continue to be important and appreciated,“ adding, “Service is equally as important as the product.”

BASIQUES custom approach essentially offers each client an individual "fashion show,” where a personal style advisor takes measurements and creates a client profile.  During the session, clients learn how to bring new life to things she already owns and how BASIQUES’ pieces mix and match together.  “It’s important to let a woman experience clothes that fit and flatter her shape and proportions,” commented Falk.  “We focus on the individual wardrobe and how it can be customized to a woman’s frame with an emphasis on mixing color and texture.”  Once the session is completed, her profile is updated with pieces and sizes that worked for her so that she has the option to shop in the store or order online to expand her wardrobe.  Custom wardrobe sessions can also be arranged at an office or at home.

Falk focuses on the French lifestyle of simplicity in all of her designs.  The inspiration for the collection is what Falk learned from French women—classic pieces which fit and flatter women’s frames are the basis of great and enduring wardrobes.  “I listened to women for years complain of nothing to wear even with massive closets.  That’s how I designed my collection—with an eye on what really fits flatters and endures,” remarks Falk.  If a stress-free closet and lifestyle is on your list learn more about BASIQUES custom wardrobe approach at www.basiques.com
