Jan. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Greenville, S.C. (January 24, 2012) — Effective January 1, 2012, Goodwyn Mills and Cawood (GMC) will provide professional services to South Carolina Technology and Aviation Center’s (SCTAC) Donaldson Field airfield. GMC will provide master planning and planning feasibility; taxiway design, widening and extension; airfield lighting and navigation aids; entrance roads and parking area designs; and a range of other consulting services for SCTAC.

“SCTAC is excited by the opportunity to work with the architecture and engineering consulting experts at Goodwyn Mills and Cawood,” says SCTAC President and CEO, Jody Bryson. “GMC’s unique combination of airport engineering/planning capabilities, economic development expertise and entrepreneurial approach align perfectly with SCTAC’s vision for the future development and growth of Donaldson Field.”

GMC is one of the largest multi-disciplined architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.  GMC provides all of the professional services associated with architecture; civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering; landscape architecture; airport planning and engineering; and master planning, surveying and construction management.

“SCTAC is a model that fits well within the culture of our firm as GMC has a focus on economic development and the positive attributes that come along with this,” says GMC’s Vice President of Greenville Operations, Kevin Laird, PE. “SCTAC’s mission aligns very closely with our strengths: airport consulting and engineering, and economic development. We are extremely proud to associate ourselves with an innovative and established partner such as SCTAC.”

GMC brings unmatched experience, continued success and a wide-range of knowledge to SCTAC, including past military experience. Most recently, Architectural Record ranked Goodwyn Mills and Cawood 163 of the top 250 architectural/engineering firms in the country. GMC also ranks fifth among the top 80 designers in the Southeastern United States.

“Much of our success over the past few years can be attributed to our quality clients and their achievements,” says GMC’s Vice President of Airport Planning and Engineering, Al Allenback, Colonel, US Air Force (Ret.). “In the last year our airport clientele has increased by 30 percent and our Greenville office has doubled in size. And even though U.S. defense spending may see a real decrease over the next ten years, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) business will increase and SCTAC is ideally positioned to take advantage of this trend.”

GMC’s partner in the services provided for SCTAC will be the Dennis Corporation out of Columbia, S.C.
