Jan. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Foster Care Associates (FCA), a leading Independent Fostering Agency, has announced its new campaign to attract foster carers with experience in the police force. This latest initiative is currently underway across the United Kingdom and is designed to attract previous and existing members of the police force to provide fostering placements for young people who may require a high level of support.

FCA specialises in providing foster care for children and young people with complex needs or difficult behaviours. To tie in with an approach that offers the highest level of support for these young people from professionals within the agency, FCA seeks to recruit foster carers to provide additional support within the home.

It is hoped that potential foster carers (http://www.thefca.co.uk/become-a-foster-carer ) with a professional history within the police force may be able to bring a unique level of relevant experience and motivation to the task of fostering.

Beth Shutt, Senior Marketing Manager, Foster Care Associates, said: "FCA urgently needs foster carers who have experience of dealing with challenging behaviours in young people. Many of the young people that we look after require a high level of support and we believe that previous and current members of the police force may have the skills needed for this type of fostering. We would urge anyone who is thinking of a new rewarding career to consider fostering."

The campaign will also afford FCA a new opportunity to support efforts to raise awareness of fostering as a potential career. The agency is hopeful that it can encourage those with personal and professional skills to consider fostering (http://www.thefca.co.uk/ ) as a way of improving the outcomes of young people.

Throughout the United Kingdom there is a shortfall of approximately 9,000 foster carers needed to provide homes for the rising number of children and young people in out of home care. FCA continues to work on addressing this shortage through a number of nationwide foster carer recruitment campaigns (http://www.thefca.co.uk/ ) which are targeted at a diverse range of groups within the community.

This latest initiative, established by FCA to target potential carers for fostering in Thames Valley, has now been rolled out nationwide to recruit potential foster carers in many towns and cities across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
