Giving Back Makes December Warmer for Lakewood Technology Company

Jan. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Lakewood, CO (January 23, 2012) – As December raced by, everyone busy gathering gifts, baking cookies, finishing last minute things at the office and taking some time off for family and friends, the team at Solve IT, a Lakewood, Colorado technology business, stopped for a moment to give back.  Solve IT Serves December program was to work for Jeffco Action Center, a non-profit providing an immediate response to basic human needs and promoting pathways to self-sufficiency for Jefferson County residents and the homeless.  Solve IT Serves is a community service program at Solve IT and for the December volunteering opportunity, more than half the staff and most of their families showed up to help.  "It was our first time volunteering with the Jeffco Action Center and our team was excited to serve right down the street from where we work.  We were able to make a difference in the place where we do business on a daily basis,” said Tasha Pierce, Marketing Coordinator at Solve IT.

The team of 14 worked for about 3 hours and sorted out several trash bags worth of clothing, bagged about a hundred loaves of fresh bread, stocked shelves in the food pantry, cleaned and organized the clothing bank and interacted with people waiting for assistance in the lobby, bringing them 5 day supplies of food and other household items upon request.  At the time the team volunteered, the Jeffco Action Center was serving about 200 families a day and also working to be sure thousands of children received a Christmas gift by allowing their parents to shop for new toys at no cost in the Santa Shop.

In addition to providing over 40 man-hours service, Solve IT Serves made a financial contribution to the Action Center in the amount of $1,000.  “Solve IT decided to contribute to a non-profit in lieu of purchasing gifts for clients last year.  We felt that a donation on behalf of our clients was the best way to spread the gift of the season,” said Garrett Brucker, President at Solve IT.
