SESCIL’S virtues are many. Among senior centers ours is unique. Just by stepping into our beautiful facility, the historic, Lydecker Homestead, people feel welcomed and at home. The Intake assessment focuses on each person’s individual needs and how to best serve them.
We are the only Center in this area that has a fully equipped dental office on site, with certified dental hygienists and an experienced dentist all at very low cost. Maintaining good physical as well as mental health is a priority here. A registered nurse sees members by appointment, helping them cope with health related issues. She also leads groups dealing with weight issues and a class on health education. Podiatric help is available on a weekly basis and an audiologist tests hearing by appointment.
SESCIL boasts the best-led exercise classes and there are 11 of them on a weekly basis, ranging from Yoga, Aerobics, Stretch & Flex, Chi Kung, Tai Chi, to Belly Dancing.
Groups and classes are geared to presenting new ideas and skills. Leaders have volunteered their talents and time to teach Bridge, classical music, water coloring, Spanish, handiworks, fresh and silk flower arranging, water coloring, choral singing, finances, book discussions, modern poetry, writing and more. New groups form as interests develop.
Our Social Worker helps members assess which entitlement programs they are eligible for and helps them submit applications and aids in understanding and enrolling in Medigap insurance, as well as Medicare Part D and so on. She also leads support groups dealing with problems of aging and health conditions. She’ll meet with individuals and even gives referrals for more intensive counseling.

Members have to be 55+ and there is a small administration fee ($10 annually). There is no extra charge for classes!
