At each book signing event Miss Thomas selects a poem or two to read. The poems she shares vary. Yet her own secret rule is to leave two specific poems for readers to discover for themselves. One of those "off limits" poems is on Page 23 of "Growing Up."
One of the readers who had offered testimony to her book referred to that poem:
---"I read Page 23 and went to bed with a smile on my face." ----Wayne Anderson, author/videographer.

What's on "Growing Up (the pain, the joy, the discoveries)"
"I made an exception one other time," says Jacquée T., "When I had a book signing at the Lynfred Winery 'Girls Night Out.'" Each time reading from that page seemed to increase book sales, she adds. Yet it feels more important to keep that page unread in public so readers may stumble upon it for themselves.
