PRLog - Jan. 23, 2012 - MAE RIM, Thailand -- MAE RIM, CHIANG MAI - Tony Wagner, an American educator and best-selling author, will visit PTIS International School in Chiang Mai on February 1 to discuss how teachers and parents can prepare students to succeed in a globalized economy that demands innovation and collaboration.

Dr. Wagner’s speech, “Creating Innovators: The Making of Young People Who Will Change the World,” will explore ideas from his new book of the same title. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. in the PTIS auditorium and is free to teachers, parents, and the public. The Krapood restaurant is open for business for anyone that would like to dine after the event. It is conveniently located on the Greenburi Estate, next to the PTIS campus in Mae Rim district.

An internationally renowned education consultant and speaker, Dr. Wagner has spent his career researching the most effective educational practices for the 21st century. He is the inaugural Innovation Education Fellow at Harvard University’s Technology & Entrepreneurship Center, the founder and former director of Harvard’s Change Leadership Group, and the executive director of Educators for Social Responsibility, an organization dedicated to school reform. He has also worked with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the United States Department of Education. Wagner’s other books have been translated into many languages, including Chinese. They include: The Global Achievement Gap, Change Leadership, How Schools Change, and Making the Grade. He was the co-creator of the documentary film The Finland Phenomenon: Inside the World’s Most Surprising School System.

The talk is presented by THINK Global School (http://thinkglobalschool.org), which offers students the unique opportunity to study an International Baccalaureate curriculum in 12 international cities over the course of four high school years. It is hosted by PTIS International School, a K-12 day and boarding school that teaches the IB Diploma Programme to students from more than 35 nations.
