Jan. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- Abu Dhabi, UAE – Rebecca Morrison, a 16 year old Briton emerged as winner of The Dream Players,  a unique grass roots initiative in the capital aimed at supporting and developing talent in the UAE.
The Dream Players, held at Innovation@Work, a community hall owned and managed by BrandMoxie, a leading advertising and marketing agency based in Abu Dhabi, was the venue for a five way competition among aspiring performers.

In the end, Morrison claimed the prize by singing an original song on the piano. "I was really excited to perform to a live audience and loved the idea of getting feedback on the spot. To win was just amazing and it has given me so much confidence and opportunities to go forward with my singing and songwriting," she said.
Morrison, a student of the British School Al Khubairat, competed against singer-saxophonist Laurel Moore, singers Briggett Velarde and Vidhya Subramani, as well as dancer Angela Ching.
The first ever talent event concluded to resounding success with The Dream Players website inundated with audition requests.
On the night of the competition, the  four judges, all of different nationalities and from strong art backgrounds and experiences, deliberated after the five performances. Using "The Dream Players" unique entertainment formula called upon the audience to 'influence and sway them' before giving their final verdicts.
"It was a difficult decision for the judges because each of the contestants was uniquely talented," said Sana Bagersh, Executive Producer of The Dream Players. "I believe that collectively Rebecca probably got more points from all the judges because she presented three talents: song composing, singing and performing."
The event was attended by artists, performers, supporters of the initiative, as well as members of the media and opinion leaders.
“I think the whole idea of the competition was fantastic and a great initiative to get the talent of Abu Dhabi noticed,' said Morrison.  "I encourage everyone in Abu Dhabi who has a talent to audition for this wonderful experience because above all else, it was a whole lot of fun.”
“The Dream Players is intended to create a nurturing platform for creativity and artistic expression. Our aim is to give talented individuals an opportunity to showcase their talent and receive professional advice,” said Bagersh

Bagersh thanked the sponsors of The Dream Players including Liwa Stores, EveFit Spa, BrandMoxie, Tween Media and Satori Productions, and called upon more support from corporate sponsors.

Kera Thompson Project Manager and judge of The Dream Players said “I had the unique opportunity to both produce and judge the event. In each instance, I was able to establish connections with people of different backgrounds on a creative and business level, which is essentially what The Dream Players is all about.”

Manar Al Hinai, an Emirati judge said,"I was pleasantly surprised to see so much fantastic talent in Abu Dhabi. This is an initiative that should have started a long time ago but I’m glad that the community now has this opportunity to showcase their talent and I’m positive that this is only going to get bigger and better.”
