Jan. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Three Authors and Illustrators have joined the Gelett Burgess Center’s Advisory Council, thus becoming participants in the Center’s annual search for the best family-friendly books and media produced in the United States. The recent additions to the Advisory Council include children’s author Sameena Bachmeier, children’s author Laurie Lee Eichorst, and children’s illustrator Janie Berry of Vancouver, WA.

Each year the Gelett Burgess Center produces a comprehensive list of what our advisory council considers the most unique children’s books on the market. With over 40 classifications, books are selected in 4 distinct groups: Lifestyle, Arts and Letters, Society and Culture, and Education. This list is promoted throughout the year as publishers and authors participate in activities, providing articles for the Center website and newsletter, and by providing lessons and activity content based on the winning books.

Among the 2012 honors include 3 books in Spanish with English translations, several books with environmentally conscious messages, as well as a number of books with messages of cultural diversity and global harmony.

About The Gelett Burgess Center:
