By: Flight4Life Parajet Expedition pilot, Mark Jennings-Bates, is better known for his championship winning rally team and his adventures in his home country of Canada. For now though, Mark has traded in the sub zero temperatures of his home town of Kelowna British Columbia for the warm Indian Ocean breezes in Perth. Mark is preparing for The Flight4Life project, a Guinness World Record attempt to fly the longest continuous paramotor expedition starting in Townsville, Queensland on February 1st 2012. Mark is currently in Perth coordinating the final logistics and talking to media about his philanthropic adventure. “What we are attempting to do, is a real challenge” said Jennings-Bates, adding “but for many people around the world, the act of survival is bigger than any expedition I could dream up!” Jennings-Bates and his fellow pilot Glenn Derouin will be joined by Budd Stanley from Canada and Craig Greenwell from Perth who will provide important ground support for the duo as they navigate the often stormy skies of Australia this time of year. The project is philanthropic in nature and will be raising funds and awareness for The Royal Flying Doctor Service here in Australia and Rally4Life, a Canadian charity working in developing countries to provide safe water and education. For Jennings-Bates, this is the first in a series of significant adventures which will include running a 100km ultramarathon in Guatemala in November and competing in the world toughest motorsport event, the Dakar Rally with team Bowler Offroad. During his adventure, which is expected to take 3 months, supporters can follow his progress with live internet tracking at www.theflight4life.com “At the end of the day, we want people to know that every donation, large or small, can make a massive difference in someones life. Hopefully we can be a catalyst for change in their lives” Jennings-Bates who departs Perth on January 25th has been accredited with a “Friends of Australia” designation from Tourism Australia and will be an advocate for Australian tourism along with another 80 or so well known and influential people around the globe. # # # Rally4Life is a Canadian registered charity that reduces poverty around the world with the provision of safe water, sustenance and education for families.
