MMD, the exclusive marketer and reseller for Philips-branded LCD monitors and public signage displays worldwide today announced the launch of three new multi-functional displays aimed at the upper entry level signage market. Available in 32”, 42” and 46” and two 55”models, each of the new displays offers full HD resolution alongside an array of new features and functionality.

The new range of products for the E series ushers in next generation technology across the board, with upgraded panels and connectivity options. Incorporating full high definition image quality, wide viewing angles and extremely fast response times, the five new displays offer even better quality in the entry-level signage display market.

“With belts being tightened in all markets worldwide, including the digital signage market, there is a universal requirement to offer fully functional yet cost effective displays,” said Morgan Sun, head of MMD’s Public Signage Display division. “With the introduction of these new models we are satisfying the demand for more features and functionality at more economical prices.”

The 42” BDL4245E, 46” BDL4645E and both 55” models – BDL5545E and BDL5545ET - come equipped with an OPS slot which allow for the simple integration of an Open Pluggable Specification module, an industry standard interface being adopted within the digital signage market for the combination of a PC module and display. This affords the end user more flexibility to choose the right hardware for the required applications, as well as offering hardware upgrades in the future without the need to replace all elements. On top of that, should the PC malfunction it is simple to slide the module out of the slot, and replace it with a new PC within seconds.

“OPS offers a lot of exciting possibilities for creating a tailor-made digital signage solution,” explained Sun. “By implementing an OPS slot in to these new models, we are offering the end user greater choice so that PC hardware can be installed which exactly meets their needs.”

Additional User Interaction

The BDL5545ET has an integrated optical IR multi-touch screen, which is both highly responsive and offers precision and longevity for users. The sensors placed on the edge of each touch screen display ensure excellent clarity, and the thick protective glass ensures both a long life and protection from elements such as dust.

“The touch screen application is absolutely ideal for a wide array of vertical applications,” continued Sun, “such as education, tourism, retail to name but a few. Delivering information on the display itself has gone from push by the media company to pull by the end user.”

Both 55” models also feature One Wire, unique to Philips brand digital signage displays, which allows the user to not only send video and audio from the media player to the display, but all control and configuration commands as well, all via one single HDMI cable. This reduces the amount of cables needed for all signals, as well as clutter at the back of the display.

All five new models have full HD panels for crystal clear images and video, as well as a wide viewing angle and offer central configuration via RS232, ensuring simple control and configuration of all displays within the network. As with all Philips digital signage displays, they all backed up by one of the most aggressive and comprehensive warranty packages in the industry, giving end users complete peace of mind.

Additionally, they can be remotely managed via an RJ45 cable on a computer network, allowing the administrator the ability to control and configure each display on the network from anywhere where there is an internet connection. As with all Philips displays, vital information about the status of the display – such as current operating temperature and total operating hours - can be found and acted upon.

“These new additions to our range offer greater functionality as well as that extra touch of elegance,” concluded Sun. “And because they are ideal for 24/7 use, there is absolutely no compromise in performance or quality.”

The five new E-Series models are available from late January 2012 through all MMD business partners. For further information on Philips public signage solutions please visit www.philips.com/publicsignagesolutions.
