By: Jim Johnson Rent a bicycle and set out on our Exploration Loop Trail WHAT: Rent a bicycle at the Springs Preserve and follow the path of adventurous explorers and ancient peoples who founded Las Vegas on the 2.2 mile Exploration Loop Trail. Reminders of the inhabitants who were here before us abound in the desert wetland setting. Along the trails, a wealth of evidence reflects thousands of years of local history, and significant historic eras of the American West. Come well prepared for your journey with water, a wide-brimmed hat, comfortable shoes and a sense of adventure. Supplies can also be found in our Gift Shop. Bicycle rentals are available weekends and Clark County school holidays beginning January 21, 2012. Preserve trails accommodate rental bikes only; individuals are not able to bring their own bicycles. WHERE: Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd. (Between U.S. 95 and Alta Drive) WHEN: Weekends and school holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or dusk (whichever comes first) beginning January 21. Members receive early access beginning at 8 a.m. COST: Bike-rental fee: members $6 per hour, $3 each additional half-hour; non-members $8 per hour, $4 each additional half-hour. Helmets are included (and required for those 12 and under). Child-carrier rentals are available for $4 members or $6 non-members. Indoor experiences include exhibition galleries dedicated to showcasing art and traveling exhibitions of local and national significance, on-site technologically advanced learning centers and interactive museum exhibits, and the Springs Cafe operated by the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas.
