Jan. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Today, startacardetailingbusiness.com, the online source for prospective car detailers and those detailers looking to learn more about their trade, polled detailers through online forums. The question was "Do you service dealerships?". Slightly more respondents said they did than they didn't, however those that didn't were more impassioned in their justification.

About 70% of detailers said they would work for a dealership, and charged a range of prices. Some charged a standard price for any vehicle on the lot, while others charged depending on make, model, and size of car.

Those detailers that said they wouldn't work for a dealership resoundingly agreed that such behavior was bad for business. Dealerships pay far less than individuals, they say, despite the fact that they don't always have regular work volume to justify such a discounted rate. Secondly, detailers reported competition from nearby detailers they said had less experience and charged much lower than the more experienced detailers could. These lower-priced detailers, said those polled in the forum, didn't last long on the market.

As of 1/18/12, twelve detailers had responded to the poll on the online forums at "autopia.org" and "web-cars.com".
