Jan. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Pleasanton, CA— The Tri-Valley YMCA will host its 12th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Fellowship breakfast on January 23, 2012 from 7:30-9:30am at the Hilton Pleasanton.  More than 200 people are expected to attend.

This year’s theme will center around Dr. King’s famous quote: “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.  Intelligence plus character- that is the goal of true education.”

“This event has become a proud tradition of the Y,” said Kelly O’Lague Dulka, Director of the Tri-Valley YMCA. “We feel it is incumbent upon us to constantly remind people that one of Dr. King’s enduring legacies is that in his teachings he always emphasized the central importance of one’s character,” she added.

Legacy award winners to be honored at the breakfast include Nancy Feeley of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and Kit Little of Village High School in Pleasanton.

This year’s keynote speaker is Parvin Ahmadi, Superintendent of the Pleasanton Unified School District.  Entertainment will be provided by the Garage Band Academy.
