Pamela Mitchell, the owner of TUFA, is the first woman owner of an all men semi-pro league in the state of Texas. She had this to say about becoming a league owner, and starting a team named Hard Hittaz.
"My husband and I woke up one early Saturday morning and saw where a young black man had been sentenced to life in prison. We begin talking about how much times have changed since we were kids and how there's nothing for our young men of today to do in their everyday lives. My husband James aka "Yogi" loves football so he ask me if I would think about him getting his own team he was already coaching for a team called the Gulf Coast Outlaws. A few of the guys had called him and wanted to know if he would think about getting his own team. We discussed it and from that day we came up with the Hard Hittaz.
We were in a league and didn't really agree with the way the league was being ran so we started talking with the other 4 teams in the league and they agreed if we started a league they would follow. In 2009 we organized the TUFA Texas United Football Association with 4 teams the Texas Beast, Spring Heat, Gladiators and the Hard Hittaz. We struggle the first year and worked to make the league a positive home for upcoming teams, but because we were a first year team we didn't have any new teams.
In 2010 we added the Woodland Warriors, Acres Home Komodo, Ravens, Cleveland Outlaws. In 2009 the Hard Hittaz won the Super bowl scoring 19-18 defeating the Texas Beast. In 2011 the Beast defeated the Hard Hittaz in the Super bowl scoring 20-13. Both teams are back to back Conference Champs. In 2012 we have grown and now have 19 teams aboard and my husband and I are striving to make the TUFA different than most leagues. We consider our league an OWNERS LEAGUE we value each and every owners opinion and in order to grow we plan to do everything in our power to make the TUFA one of the best leagues in TEXAS."
Said Sun Born President Roland G. Ludlow, "Pamela is an inspiration to woman everywhere, and we are proud to be a sponsor for TUFA, and grateful for their support of our all natural sports training and pain relief product, Herbal Chi Balm."
