Expert Angler to Host 2012 Fly-fishing for Pike Seminar at Lac La Martre Adventures, NWT, Canada

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 18, 2012 - George Bernstein, Pike fly-fishing expert, IGFA World Record holder, and author of the recently acclaimed book, Toothy Critters Love Flies, has partnered with Greg Dussome and Dave Thompson, of LAC LA MARTRE ADVENTURES, to host a week specially geared to fly-fishing for monster pike, huge lake trout and the feisty Arctic grayling.

Lac La Martre (WWW.NWTFISHING.COM), located in the Northwest Territories of Canada, has long been known for superb fishing. A 29 pound pike from the lake set the 6 pound tippet-class fly-rod record in 2001. The lake is also prized for its giant lake trout, with fish exceeding fifty-pounds a possibility. And with this early-season date, fly-fishermen, using sinking lines, have a real shot at trophy lake trout on flies. However, the main attraction will be sight-casting for the big pike, swarming the shallow bays, looking to fatten up after a lean winter.

Bernstein will be available to teach expert and novice fly-casters alike, how to take these exciting predators on flies. He has proven over twenty years that the right streamer flies will take more…and bigger…pike, day in and day out, than anglers using traditional hardware. He’ll have a fly-tying bench set up at the lodge, where participants will also learn to tie his easy-to-make Marabou and Flashabou patterns. As a bonus, Bernstein will provide each angler signing up for this exciting experience, a free copy of his book, Toothy Critters Love Flies, and 4 of his favorite flies to get them started.

Lac La Martre Adventure’s lodge is a full service, American Plan lodge, and the package includes roundtrip float plane flights from Yellowknife to the lodge, rooms, excellent meals and very experienced guides (2 anglers to a boat). The only “extras” are a required overnight at a hotel in Yellowknife on June 25, personal expenses, and tips to guides and staff…and of course, the angler’s cost for getting to Yellowknife.
