Jan. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Regal Recycling’s new, state-of-the-art metal recycling center in Whitmore Lake represents a significant commitment to the environment and to the local community. The company’s $3 million investment will create 20 green jobs while protecting the environment.

“Everything about our new metals recycling facility is geared towards worker safety and protecting the environment,” said Vern Brockway, owner of Regal Recycling.
Investment in the facility includes $1,500,000 in the property and an additional $1,5000,000 in machinery and processing equipment. The company spent more than $600,000 in environmental protection measures, including $500,000 for lot resurfacing and $100,000 in stormwater controls. These environmental safety measures will keep runoff from entering the community’s water supply and will protect the soil from pollution. Additionally, the recycling center includes a five-acre yard and 10,000 square foot indoor processing facility. This facility will be heated in the winter using waste oil reclaimed from scrap autos brought into the facility for recycling. This innovative program will prevent oil waste from being sent to landfills, and will significantly reduce the recycling center’s energy needs.

The new recycling center will employ 20 to 25 people in green jobs . For every pound of metal recycled, valuable energy and natural resources are saved.  The Steel Recycling Institute estimates than one ton of recycled steel saves 2,500 pounds of iron ore, 1,400 pounds of coal and 120 pounds of limestone. At full operation, the Whitmore Lake facility will process 25,000 tons of steel, copper, brass, aluminum and other metals each year.

Services offered in Whitmore Lake include auto recycling, metals recycling, auto pick-up, demolition, rigging of machinery and heavy hauling.

Metal will be accepted at the new Regal Recycling location starting 1/23/2012.  As always, Regal Recycling pays top-market prices. To contact the new facility it is located at 6270 Whitmore Lake Rd Whitmore Lake, MI (734) 663-0976.
