It provides sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives to the things people buy every day, which means selling products that are made in such a way that they can continue to be made indefinitely without compromising the lives and opportunities of future generations.

In January, the company relaunched its website (http://www.utterlyeco.com) to enhance the shopping experience of its visitors. The new, easy-on-the-eye design and layout is combined with clear and concise drop-down menus, a comprehensive search facility and a shop by department category, to ensure customers can enjoy a simple and uncluttered visit from log on to check out.

Utterly Eco stocks hundreds of useful and innovative eco products covering eight core “departments”, which include Home and Garden, Electricals, Mother and Baby and Jewellery. These departments are then broken down into over two dozen sub-categories to assist shoppers and reflect the wider reaching range of the site.

The products themselves can essentially be split into two core types reflecting either their direct or indirect effect on the buyer’s environmental footprint.

The “direct” group includes things like energy saving light bulbs, renewable energy devices, detergent free cleaning products and water-saving devices. Their use will directly reduce the environmental footprint of the user.

Hundreds of Utterly Eco’s products, however, have been chosen for their environmentally friendly credentials, but do not have the same direct influence. They are far too numerous to list but could be anything from recycled glass ornaments and bamboo kitchenware through to recycled plastic clothes pegs and even hydrogen powered educational toys.

Aside from the environmental aspect of Utterly Eco, the company fully supports the concept of fair trade and many products are made by ethically treated artisans and workers from across the world.
