Acoustic curtains used to divide classrooms
In a concept designed by GWK Architects, the school’s traditional classrooms were replaced with large, circular rooms adjoining the main corridor. J&C Joel provided acoustic masking curtains that, when drawn, cordon these individual teaching areas off from the school’s main corridor and other classrooms.
J&C Joel supplied and installed nine twin-2Way track systems around the perimeter of the school’s classrooms from which acoustic masking curtains manufactured by J&C Joel were hung.
The drapes themselves were manufactured from a bespoke serge fabric that was decorated with colourful circular panels made from the same fabric. J&C Joel manufactured the curtains with interlining layers of J&C Joel’s Standard Wool Serge (WS001) to reduce sound passing through the curtains and into adjoining classrooms.
