Authors Arthur Mark Boerke and Damon Plumides Are Having a Positive Impact on Middle School Students

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 16, 2012 - Authors Arthur Mark Boerke and Damon Plumides of Charlotte, North Carolina are getting attention and making a difference with students at middle schools in North and South Carolina.  According to Larry Stinson, Principal of the New Heights Middle School in Jefferson, South Carolina, “It was a rare opportunity for young people, including at-risk students, to enhance their writing skills by being in the company of not only published authors, but captivating presenters who held STUDENTS’ attention for an hour and a half. Some of these students now aspire to become writers themselves.”

Boerke and Plumides have been friends for many years and started their collaboration on the book several years ago. The Adventures of Caterwaul the Cat: Feline Pie was published in the fall of 2011 by BQB Publishing of Georgia and has consistently built a following of fans and five star reviews. Boerke is a history professor and Plumides has a young son, so they are both big proponents of positively affecting the lives of kids and getting them interested in reading. “Statistics show that kids who read do better in almost every other aspect of life than kids who don’t read,” states Boerke, “and we want to help make a difference where we can.”
