Follow on Google News | Fighting Cancer in Kansas City, Cowboy StyleThe American Cancer Society encourages you to strap on your cowboy boots and ride off into the sunset all in the name of cancer research. The ACS’s Annual Cattle Baron’s Ball will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Hale Arena.
By: Caitlin Ginestra Under the leadership of Cattle Baron’s Ball Chairmen Brent and Jennifer Eslinger, the event will be complete with cowboy cuisine, live entertainment, western activities and live and silent auctions – all in the traditional rodeo setting of American Royal Hale Arena in Kansas City, Mo. Most importantly, the event will support cancer research and patient programs in the Kansas City region and provide an opportunity for all of Kansas City to honor and remember those who have faced cancer in their lives. After losing family and friends to cancer, and watching others wage their battle, the Eslingers teamed up with the Society to fight back against the disease. “For Jennifer and me, participating in the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s Ball feels like a very small way to be a part of the big fight and help prevent such loss, fear, and heartache from happening to other families,” said Brent Eslinger. “We’re excited to raise funds and awareness through this great event and hope Kansas City will join us for an unforgettable night.” The theme for this year’s gala is Denim & Diamonds and guests are encouraged to dress cowboy chic. Tables are available at the $3,000 and $5,000 levels as well as individual tickets for $150 and $200. For more information about the 2012 Cattle Baron’s Ball, visit kccattlebaronsball.org. About the American Cancer Society The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year.
