Jan. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Marble Falls, AR January 16, 2012--The Buffalo National River is ranked as one of the top 10 'underappreciated' parks in the entire United States National Park system by National Geographic and in response Fine Art Photographer ReDcOX has committed to a '365 project' creating daily images during the Buffalo National River's 40th Anniversary Year in 2012 to focus on what makes the park unique. The “Buffalo River Diaries” is presented daily on Flickr to appreciate the park through the combination of the artist's unique vision as well as the artist's experiences of being a daily park visitor.

ReDcOX states that the premise of the Buffalo River Diaries 365 project is as simple as it is succinct; “It is simply a daily personal photography diary, including occasional essays and videos of the artist's experience along the river and surrounding park lands during the 40th Anniversary Year of the Buffalo National River 1972-2012 . The majority of 365 projects to this point have typically been self-portrait photography. The Buffalo River Diaries borrows from that original concept in a fresh and unique way to explore a specific subject, the Buffalo National River during its entire 40th anniversary year, by taking an in depth and daily look at facets of the park like the back country and details of the national park lands that surround the river, specifically including areas and sights that typical visitors may not even be aware of.”

The Buffalo National River was established by an Act of Congress on March 1st, 1972 creating America's 1st National River in northern Arkansas. 2012 marks the 40th Anniversary of the 135 mile natural, wild, and scenic river course and the corridor surrounding it. Contained within the Buffalo National River is the tallest waterfall between the Appalachian and Rocky mountains, the state of Arkansas's only herd of Elk, 55 species of mammals, 250 species of birds, and 59 species of fish, 3 wilderness areas, and over 300 cave systems, including one of the largest cave systems is Arkansas known as Fitton Cave.
