Is there a [Vegetarian] Doctor in the House?

Jan. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Heroes For Health is creating a national database of medical doctors who follow, or at least understand the benefits of, a plant-based diet. General practitioners and all specialties are being sought. This consumer-searchable database will be made available nationally via the web.

Many people who embrace a plant-based diet hold the view that typical medical doctors (such as doctors who follow the Standard American Diet) treat their patients by simply medicating symptoms and managing diseases.  

Heart disease, diabetes, many cancers, obesity, and many other common diseases and ailments are not common in those who follow a plant-based diet. Therefore, plant-based adherents don’t look for “common” medical caregivers.

Vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians often prefer to find medical doctors who can collaborate with their patients in maintaining optimal health and wellness.  Maintaining health is quite a different approach than managing disease!
