Prem Oval 2012 Cricket Events – Chiang Mai, Thailand

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 16, 2012 - The highlight of the season comes with the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) recent announcement that two ACC-approved tournaments will be held at the Prem Oval cricket ground.

From 1-10 March 2012, the U-16 Challenge Cup 2012 will be held on the grounds with seven national teams representing Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, Maldives, Myanmar, Qatar, and UAE taking up the challenge.

In December 2012 an ACC Trophy Challenge is currently being organized with up to eight National teams due to participate.

The TGCA’s picturesque cricket grounds, international-standard facilities and the continued growth of cricket in the region has also brought about greater usage of the Prem Oval grounds in recent years. Early in the season the 2012 line-up has included such events as the training facility for Thailand’s National U-19 Girls Team in preparation for the upcoming Asian Girls U-19 Trophy to be held 6 – 17 February in Kuwait, an ACC Bowling and Cricket Coaching Seminar with Sri Lankan former pace bowler Rumesh Ratnayake and former Indian cricketer and bowling Coach Venkatesh Prasad being held 11-13 January, and as a tournament grounds for many of Thailand’s league games.

The first league match of the year brings together the Chiang Mai Cricket Club and Bangkok Parrots playing their annual game on 14 January. The event is open to the public and will be held from 10:00 am to dusk.
