It's a feeling Dave knows well. The clients he has worked with over the years who started businesses of their own had similar feelings. When people open a new business they are counting on customers discovering them and then buying their products or services. That's their moment of truth and something that they need to continue to work toward every day. When they are successful, the time and effort they have invested is repaid with interest. According to Dave, "It was their success that really convinced me that the book would help people; that it was worth writing. It was their encouragement that motivated me to get it finished and published."
The working title for the book was Operating on Faith. As Dave states in the introduction, "It must be an act of faith. Starting a business is about as rational as walking to the edge of a precipice, looking down, leaping into the abyss and assuming you’ll be able to build your wings, and learn how to fly, before you hit bottom. …..That’s an act of faith." The rest of the title came to him as he realized that such faith needed some guidelines and that this would become a series of books.
The Business Owner’s Bible – Operating on Faith is a collection of thoughts on what it takes to be successful in the day-to-day operation of any business. It’s about faith in oneself, one’s ideas, one’s customers, and a world of opportunity. Based on the work Dave has done to help hundreds of business owners improve their results and rediscover the joy in owning their business, it provides an opportunity to reflect on what business is and how it needs to work to be successful. Moreover, it helps every business owner to recognize how their business can contribute to their life and not become something that takes it over.
Published on December 31, 2011 it is now available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle electronic versions and can be viewed at http://www.amazon.com/
Dave has already started working on the next book in the series, Epiphanies. It will tell the stories of successful business owners who had a sudden realization that something would need to change to make their businesses successful – a “blinding flash of the obvious” is how he describes it. That book should be completed this year. For more information and updates visit http://www.thebusinessownersbible.com
